Courtney Smallbone is fervent about living a life that’s all in. Her greatest desire is to come alongside women and help them move from living in black and white to living in full color. It’s a call to awakening their truest identity and trading the false identities women can accumulate over a lifetime—with the Gospel as the foundation.
Throughout her book, you will explore every shade of God’s good and perfect design for His daughters—from the root systems of women’s identities, the original Hebrew meaning of woman, Eve and helper, to the significance of when woman was made from the rib…and beyond.
In a culture that works from the outside in with a dash of fear and hustle, it’s Courtney’s desire to live from the inside out with joy and peace, while helping women transform and thrive.
As a mother to four children, including a daughter, Courtney felt compelled and divinely inspired to write a book that helps women of all ages and stages step into their distinct calling and live out the spectrum of their unique God-given expression. With Technicolor Woman, she hopes to help women trade the lies and lesser things for discovery of true love and freedom in Jesus. In a culture that tells women who they should be, Courtney wants to tell women who God already says they are.
While she heralds, “Joy is the serious business of heaven,” she also believes that sometimes it’s the soil of suffering and sorrow that sprouts deep joy and true hope.
Courtney walked through and triumphed over her own rare disease at the age of 18, her husband’s debilitating autoimmune illness, and other challenging wilderness seasons.
Each encounter and trial touched and ignited her fears, but Courtney turned to her solid foundation, Jesus, in each situation. She desires—and believes there can be—wholeness in Him, so she speaks and shares the hope of Christ to those who are broken-hearted, weary and in the wilderness season.
She’s married to Luke Smallbone, one-half of GRAMMY®-winning duo FOR KING + COUNTRY, and has a burning commitment for healthy marriages under life’s demands and pressures, while staying connected to and thriving in your family life.
You can find her living in full color as an amateur homesteader—raising cattle and children on a farm outside Nashville, Tennessee

- “What Courtney Smallbone carries is rare and most needed for this hour. She has a unique ability to communicate in a way that cuts through “the clutter,” and when she speaks, it is clear she possesses an unquenchable fire for God. Her words are profound yet practical. She speaks candidly but always with compassion and with Christ at the center. Her life experiences will remind you of the power of God and that he is the same yesterday, today, and always. Her voice is truly a guide away from a mediocre faith and towards a more vibrant one. Ultimately, when Courtney speaks, the overarching desire becomes knowing the One who has set her ablaze.”
